Proyecto arcade
open source stand-up desk

Development of a locally manufactured stand-up desk using regionally available components — from design to final production.
Since I work in electronic equipment repair and constantly deal with planned obsolescence, I prioritize future repairability and material overengineering in my designs. Additionally, all of its sensors are optical to prevent wear over time.
The electronics are built around a programmable microcontroller (ESP32 or Arduino) with interchangeable modules that exceed the required specifications. This approach aims for high reliability, even without sourcing the highest-grade components available on the global wholesale market.
Project’s objectives
- Achieve a competitive price within its market segment, with a profit margin from its manufacturing and sales.
- Verify through empirical experience the implications of releasing a commercial design as open source.
- Ensure it can be repaired by any available electronics technician or metalworker, as appropriate.
- Above all, make it something beautiful to own and use.
